Then She Was Gone - Lisa Jewell

I would have given this one a 3.5, but there was something about the ending that I really liked that nudged it up to a 4. 

Lisa Jewell is a seriously good writer, and she’s always got a great plot and some wonderful characters up her sleeve. I raced through Then She Was Gone in less than 24 hours, because I was intrigued, and because I really loved some of the characters. 

In 2005 (I think) Laurel’s third child, 15 year old Ellie, disappears without trace, and this horrific event blows the whole family’s lives into smithereens. The novel is narrated by several of the different characters, and skips along several different timelines. Then She Was Gone is a solid mystery with a lot of heart. While the end was a little predictable in my opinion, it didn’t take from the story at all, it actually made it all the more believable. 

I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t connect with any of the characters in the last Lisa Jewell (I Found You), but I definitely did in this one. I also loved how the different narratives prove that often we see ourselves in a much different light than others see us.
